MCU News Sebastian Stan Happy Hes Not Cap a Possible Title Leak

first_imgStay on target James Gunn Once Again Directing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’Dark Phoenix Trailer Released & More Marvel Movie News We’ve been watching Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan play Captain America and Bucky Barnes since 2011. On screen, they’ve always felt like the perfect people to play these roles. Chris Evans has that earnest 1940s eagerness Steve Rodgers needs, and Stan has that protective aura and brooding vulnerability that makes him a perfect Winter Soldier. There is a world, however where things didn’t turn out that way. Now, it’s hard to imagine Stan playing anyone other than Bucky, but he originally had a different role in mind.In an interview with CNBC’s Make It, Stan said he initially went out for the role of Captain America. Can’t see it? Well, neither could Marvel. Stan says he was told he “wasn’t right for the part,” which… yeah, fair. Sorry, as great an actor as Stan is, and as fun as he is in these movies, he just isn’t Steve Rodgers. Besides, if he had gotten the part, we would have needed to wait until Avengers: Infinity War to see him rock that stubble. That’s not the only reason Stan says it worked out, though. In the interview, he describes Bucky as a “much better role.” And that’s not him rationalizing either. Without having to play the boy scout all the time, his role in the MCU gives him a much greater range. Also, he still has five movies in the pipeline, whereas Cap… well, he has one.Still, ending up with a better role doesn’t mean the initial rejection was any less hard. But Stan says that’s just part of being an actor, and he offered up some advice for dealing with it. “Try not to take things personally, learn how to face rejection, no matter what you do, stay obsessed with it,” he said.On the other hand, if Stan were Captain America, that would mean a lot more of those trademark MCU shots lingering on his abs, which would certainly make some fans I know happy. Still, everything clearly worked out for the best. If Stan had been cast as Cap, we would be denied the best big screen boyfriends in superhero media.Via ScreenRant, Hero XRemember this leaked Avengers 4 concept art that may or may not be legit but looks pretty plausible? Marvel Cosmic Editor in Chief Jeremy Conrad claims the art was made for the CineEurope convention in Spain, where Disney has a big presentation next Wednesday. That’s not an official confirmation, but it sounds pretty legit. Conrad, according to Express, told everyone that an even bigger leak is on the way in the coming days. That tweet was soon deleted. What could that be? At this point, one of the biggest MCU mysteries is the title of Avengers 4. Marvel fans on Reddit are speculating that’s exactly what’s coming. It is strange that a movie is less than a year away and we still have no idea what it’s called. But its title is said to be a spoiler for Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel Boss Kevin Feige has also said the whole secret title thing blew it all out of proportion, and we probably shouldn’t be treating it like a giant reveal. Which would be much easier to do if they would stop treating it with all this secrecy. So what’s it going to be? Avengers: Secret Wars? Avengers Reassemble? End of Avengers? …Neon Genesis Avengers? Hey, why not get even weirder with this whole thing? No idea when the title is supposed to leak, but we’ll keep an eye out over the next ten days.Charlie Cox, Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter in The Defenders (Photo: Screenshot via YouTube/Netflix)Over on the TV side of things, fans have been wondering about the future of the Marvel Netflix shows. Now that Disney has planned to end its partnership with Netflix in favor of its own streaming service, what will happen to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and… *sigh* Iron Fist? Jeph Loeb provided some clarity in an AMA on Reddit. When asked if there are planned endings for these characters, or if they’ll just continue on indefinitely, Loeb said, “That’s really up to Netflix. We love telling those stories! Check out Luke Cage 2 on June 22nd!” It’s good to know that Netflix will still retain control over these shows. It also means that they aren’t likely to jump ship to whatever Disney’s streaming service is going to be. That’s probably for the best. These shows feel like Netflix shows. Though they ostensibly take place in the MCU, they’re much darker and more violent than anything Marvel’s put in theaters. As far as how long they’ll go, that too is up to Netflix. Loeb has no problem keeping the Marvel Netflix train rolling, though. “That’s a Netflix question. We’ll take whatever they want!” he said. The second season of Luke Cage comes out later this month, and it’s looking good already. Let’s hope Netflix keeps asking for more seasons. Well, for most of these shows.via MarvelThat’s not the only bit of TV news that came out of Loeb’s Reddit AMA, either. He teased that a series we all thought was pretty much over could make its return. Inhumans was met with terrible reviews and low ratings, all of which it deserved. It was a poorly-paced, confusing show with some of the cheapest production values ever attached to a Marvel product. It was worth watching just to see how much of a trainwreck it was going to be. That is to say, yes, it was bad, but they really went for it. Loeb said he hopes we still haven’t seen the last of these characters. When asked if they’ll ever be brought back despite the show’s cancellation, Loeb said “Hope so. Great cast and for what’s it worth, still think is a fun show.” So there are at least some people at Marvel that don’t want to completely forget the Inhumans exist.Really, the only one I care about is Lockjaw. Such a good boy deserves so much more than one season of a bad TV show. Lockjaw needs to be on the big screen. That’s… pretty much it. OK, Medusa can come too. She was cool. Though it was super lame of that show to cut her hair in the first episode so they wouldn’t have to animate it. What a waste. Here’s hoping whatever form the Inhumans come back in has a higher CGI budget.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.last_img read more
